Biography
ARTIST: SKA
Niska Garoute, known as
“SKA,” is a Haitian-American artist based in Miami, FL, whose work reflects
deep Afro-Caribbean and tribal Haitian influences. Her style combines cubism,
abstraction, and expressionism, brought to life with vibrant colors, bold
lines, and rich textures that evoke freedom and emotion.
With a background in
architecture, graphic design, and marketing, SKA blends structure with creative
spontaneity. Inspired by her great uncle TIGA, a Haitian art pioneer, her
process celebrates repetition and pure, unfiltered expression. Her paintings often
feature symbolic linework, poetic elements, and rhythmic forms, creating a
visual journey rooted in her cultural heritage.
Through
a harmonious blend of poetry, linework, and symbolism, her art transforms into
a visual symphony—a journey for the eyes and soul. With just under a decade of
success in the music industry, SKA is now reclaiming her roots in fine art,
embodying the essence of a true multidisciplinary creator.
“I paint because it’s my
most primal form of release and healing. It’s the first art I ever connected
to,” Niska shares.
